Other Plants

China is one of the countries that has the richest higher plant species in the world, which contains about 30,000 species. The southwest of China, especially the Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, has the richest plant diversity, accounting for more than 60% plant species of China.

Iris goniocarpa

As Ernest Henry Wilson said, China is the mother of gardens in the world. Every year in 5-9 months, all kinds of flowers bloom, dressing the mountains as a big natural garden. It is the paradise for following plant genera: Meconopsis, Primula, Rhododendron, Gentiana, Pedicularis, Corydalis, Lilium, Saxifraga, Clematis, Cypripedium, and so on. The majority of these genera members are distributed in China, and most of them are endemic. It has been considered as one of the world's most biodiverse areas by many international environmental protection organizations.

Iris songarica

There also exist many other kinds of plants, such as Iris. Iris is the general name of Iris in the family Irises. There are about 300 species in the world, and about 60 species in China, mainly distributed in the southwest, northwest, and northeast. The scientific name for Iris is Iris, which comes from the Greek word for rainbow. It is also the name of the rainbow goddess in ancient Greek mythology. The ancient Greeks believed that the flowers of Iris were very colorful, shining in the sun like a rainbow, so named.
